Participating community pharmacies across Tasmania will be able to provide medication and treatment to eligible patients for the following conditions:
These services are expected to become available in 2026 as pharmacists complete their training. Once they are available, Tasmanians will enjoy quicker, more convenient access to the health care they need.

Community pharmacies now offer convenient access to diagnosis and treatment for uncomplicated UTIs, including antibiotic supply when necessary.
Participating pharmacies now offer oral contraceptive resupply services, making it easier than ever to access ongoing care and support for women’s health.
No. Only pharmacists who complete additional training will be able to provide the new services in community pharmacies
Community pharmacists will be trained to treat everyday health conditions, including ear infections, reflux, skin conditions, and more.
Similar initiatives are already in place in Queensland where patients can access treatment for more than 20 everyday and long-term health conditions at their local community pharmacy.
The expanded services are expected to become available in 2026, as community pharmacists complete the required training.
No. Community pharmacists will be able to treat a limited number of conditions after they have completed additional training. The ability of pharmacists to treat these everyday health conditions will relieve pressure on GP’s allowing them to focus on more complex cases.
